AO TECH ("we", "us", "our") repairs phones, laptops, tablets and consoles, and buys and sells phones, laptops, tablets, consoles and smartwatches from our shop at 30A Victoria Road, Cleveleys, Blackpool. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have.
Who we are
AO TECH is the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything on this page by phone on 07778886869, by email at anwar@aotech.uk, or by visiting the shop in person.
What we collect
We collect information you give us directly through the forms on this website:
- Repair bookings — your name, phone number and/or email, the device and issue, your preferred appointment time, and any notes you add.
- Sell your device — your name, contact details, the device and its condition, any photos you choose to upload of the device, and your preferred contact method. Photos are used only to help us give a more accurate valuation.
- Contact form — your name, contact details, the subject and message you send us.
- Repair tracking & notifications — if you use the repair tracker, we look up your repair using the tracking token from your booking confirmation. If you choose to turn on status notifications, your browser creates a push subscription (a technical address your browser gives us permission to send updates to) which we store against that repair only.
We do not ask for or store payment card details anywhere on this website — all payment happens in person or over the phone with the shop.
If you go on to sell a device to us in person, UK law requires us to see photo ID at that point. That ID check happens in the shop, not through this website, and is covered separately by our in-store process.
How we use your information
We use the information you give us to:
- respond to your repair booking, device quote request, or enquiry, and arrange or carry out the work you've asked for;
- send you updates about a repair you've asked to be notified about;
- keep records of repairs, sales and purchases for accounting, warranty and legal purposes;
- improve this website and the service we offer.
Our lawful basis for most of this is that it's necessary to take steps you've asked for before entering into a repair, sale or purchase with us (or to perform that agreement once made). Where we send push notifications, that's based on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by turning off notifications in your browser. Keeping accounting and warranty records is necessary for us to comply with our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
Your information is only ever shared with:
- AO TECH staff who need it to carry out a repair, valuation, sale or purchase, or to answer your enquiry;
- the technology providers that host this website and our booking system on our behalf, who process data under our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes;
- your own browser's push notification service (for example Google, Apple or Mozilla's infrastructure), which is how repair status notifications are technically delivered if you opt in;
- where required, HM Revenue & Customs or other authorities, if the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep repair, sale and purchase records for as long as we're required to for accounting and tax purposes (currently up to 6 years under UK requirements) and for the length of any warranty we've given, plus a reasonable period after. Enquiries and quote requests that don't turn into a booking or sale are kept for a reasonable period to allow us to follow up, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask us what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- ask us to correct information that's inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, where we're not required to keep it for a legal reason;
- ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information;
- ask for your information in a portable format, where relevant;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (for example, push notifications).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time, for example as our services change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
